Across the U.S., more mental health services are being developed for communities of color. These programs understand that good care must honor the whole person—their race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, faith, age, disability, immigration status, and more. These resources—offered by national and regional organizations, culturally specific clinicians, peer-support groups, and faith-based counselors—add to local services by providing specialized expertise, different formats (telehealth, sliding-scale fees), and approaches that fit diverse individuals and families in Centre County.

A nonprofit organization that offers affordable counseling, coaching, guidance, and support for children & youth; young adults, adults, and seniors; couples and families, veterans, and LGBTQ communities.

The center of care is led by Dr. Tim Barksdale, an African American former President of the PA Psychological Association, and contributor to the development of Thrive Cooperative.
Indian Creek Foundation
“A coalition of the leading mental health organizations, brands, and individuals who have joined forces to end the stigma surrounding mental health and to change the way people talk about, and care for, mental illness.” The Coalition centers the experiences of marginalized people, is committed to antiracism and accessibility, and is dedicated BIPOC and LGBTQ resources.
